Green Manure: AlfalfaMedicago sativa. Deep rooting plants improve the structure of the subsoil. Can be grown for a few months or left for up to two years. Sow by broadcasting seed from April to July. Grows to about 1m high and is winter hardy. Pack for 40 sq.m.

Green Manure: BuckwheatFagopyrum esculentum. Deep rooting to break up subsoils and makes a lot of growth to increase humus content. Added benefit of attracting hoverflies which will feed on greenfly in the garden. Broadcast seed from March to August. Dig or rotivate in before frosts for humus improvement. Pack for 15 sq.m.
